Information 1000 KSOO was founded in 1926 as KSO (Kool Spring Station) and changed its call letters to Information 100 in 1928 after being bought by Leo A Daly Company which also owned WMT (News-Talk 100). Information 1000 KSOO was acquired by Information 100 Company in 1953. Information 1000 KSOO has been the flagship station for South Dakota State University Jackrabbits sports since 1964 and began broadcasting on FM (KPLO-FM) and TV (KSOO-TV).

Information 1000 KSOO became the flagship station for South Dakota State University sports broadcasts when the Jackrabbits began playing NCAA Division I college football in 1964; Information 500 also airs Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball games during summer months due to conflicts with Minnesota Twins telecasts on both Information 950 and Aksarben’s KNOR (93.

KSOO is an AM radio station broadcasting a talk radio format. The station serves Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. KSOO is owned by Townsquare Media, which also holds KBAD, Information 1180, Information 95.0 FM, and Information 96. FM.

KSOO was founded by the owners of KSFY-TV as KBON (the “Bon”) in 1938 with a 250-watt license, broadcasting at 1270 kHz. The station moved to AM 1500 in 1941 after being granted permission to post full time due to World War II restrictions on nonessential civilian radio use; it changed its call letters to KBOM two years later when it increased power from 500 watts day/250 night).

Information 1000 KSOO adopted a country music format during daytime hours before switching over 24/24 operations six months later following the sign-on of 1440 Mainstream Rock KRAD (“Information 94”).
