101.5 The Mountain:

The Mountain 101.5 FM is an Adult Alternative radio station serving the Roanoke, Blacksburg, and New River Valley of Virginia. They are a community-supported non-profit organization and broadcast on two frequencies: 101.7 in the Roanoke area and 98.1 for Blacksburg and Radford listeners. They are also on the HD Radio, Internet live stream, and mobile phone app.

The Mountain FM broadcasts at 101.0 in the Roanoke area and 98.0 for those listening in Blacksburg or Radford during daytime hours only – with a translator frequency of 99.99 that can be heard throughout most of Southwest Virginia daytimes as well (and night-time around 97 kHz). With more than 100 hours per week of programming covering many genres from Americana to Rock ‘n Roll oldies to bluegrass music, there’s something here for everyone! The Mountain FM has always been an Adult Alternative radio station, but in October 2004 they officially became 101.0 The Mountain FM with the launch of their new moniker “101” to represent Roanoke’s area code (540). Within months, the FCC granted approval for them to broadcast at 98.0 as well – so now listeners from Blacksburg or Radford can enjoy 104 hours per week of programming!
