Amherst Island Radio – CJAI FM 92.1 is a Public Radio station of Canada. It is broadcasting on 92.1 from our milkhouse studio located in Stella, Ontario.
Our 250 watts covers Amherst Island and the bordering Canadian mainland, roughly from Picton to Napanee to the western edge of Kingston. Amherst Island is located on Lake Ontario, 10 kilometers (6 miles) west of Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Amherst Island is located across Lake Ontario, Stream Island is located on St. Lawrence River Thousand Island and is part of Lenux and Eddington County loyal townships. Amherst Island is about 3 kilometers (2 miles) away The rest are served by public ferries from Offshore and Millhaven to Loyal Township.
The island measures more than 20 kilometers (12 miles) in length, from Bluff Point in the southwest to Amherst Bar in the northeast, and kilometers (4.3 miles) in length.
The island is about 66 square kilometers (25 square miles) in size and is one of the largest islands in the Great Lakes.
Amherst Islands include: Almond Island, Grape Island Pronounced Grape, Brothers Islands and Salmon Islands, approximately 600 hectares (1,700 acres) or about 66 square kilometers (25 square miles).
Almond Island is the largest of these islands and is about 610 meters (2,000 feet) off the coast of Amherst Island between Amherst Bay and Long Point Bay.
Grape Island is located about 300 meters (1,000 feet) off the coast of Amherst Island and is easily visible from the shore. The Brotherhood Islands are located between Amherst Island, Amherstview and Lemnine Point, Kingston, Ontario.
